Olive’s life has been plagued by bad luck, be it in her career, love life, or pretty much everything else. In stark contrast, her identical twin sister Ami seems to have the Midas touch, blessed with a fairytale-like meet-cute with her fiancé and a string of Internet contest wins that finance her dream wedding. To make matters worse, Ami insists that Olive spends the day with her sworn enemy, Ethan, who coincidentally is the best man at the wedding.
Reluctantly, Olive braces herself for a day of wedding torment before she can return to her familiar, unlucky existence. However, fate has different plans when the entire wedding party falls ill from bad shellfish, leaving only Olive and Ethan unscathed. To their surprise, an all-expenses-paid honeymoon in Hawaii becomes available.
Setting aside their mutual animosity for a free vacation, Olive and Ethan head to paradise, determined to avoid each other at all costs. But when Olive runs into her prospective boss during the trip, a small white lie she tells puts her in jeopardy of revealing a much bigger deception. Now, they must pretend to be deeply in love as newlyweds, and strangely, Olive finds herself embracing the charade. In a twist of fate, playing pretend with Ethan doesn’t feel like bad luck at all. In fact, she starts to feel… lucky.
